Today Gemma is in hospital for a procedure on her

Today Gemma is in hospital for a procedure on her heart. The mad heart rate she was getting occasionally (240bpm plus) is now happening almost daily so they are trying to fix that. @gemma_numan

Better? My kids have just told me that my last pos

Better? My kids have just told me that my last post about Echo has caused quite a reaction. Apparently people are saying I’m a pedo that should be on the sex offenders register, that I’m probably abusing my girls (or Echo at least) and more horrible things. Really?

Because, what I thought I was doing was posting a cute story about how her life began, and a lovely picture of how beautiful she is now. It’s a sad world indeed when a proud Dad can’t show a lovely picture of his daughter (not an indecent picture by the way, no private parts on show, not even a bum cheek or hint of cleavage, in fact far more clothes on than anyone strolling on the beach or lounging at a pool, or even walking around the streets in some warmer climates).

People are saying she’s a minor, as though the photo is something scandalous and terrible, only suitable for mature adults, but it isn’t. It’s a lovely photo (a selfie actually, taken by Echo) of a pretty girl. Exactly the sort of photo you would see on a perfume ad at the airport or in a magazine (or all over social media). In just a few months Echo could well be on a perfume ad at an airport with much the same type of photo. Would I be accused of being a pedo or of sexually abusing my children then as well if I posted that pic? That is so weird, such a distorted view of parental pride.

I don’t understand how the photo can be seen as ‘wrong’ in any way, and if there is nothing wrong with the photo (and there isn’t) how can people be upset that I posted it? And not just upset, seriously vicious, accusing me of the most horrendous things, simply because I’m proud of how lovely Echo looks in her selfie and so posted it myself.

What the fuck have we come to? Shame on every single one of you that had something negative to say about such a loving post and a beautiful photo. I rarely care enough about people’s opinions to give them even a passing thought, but this is shockingly disappointing. Shame on you indeed.

When Echo was born she very nearly died. She was premature and her lungs were sticking together. A very observant nurse noticed her breathing wasn’t quite right, grabbed her and rushed her away. That quick action, and what followed, saved her life. After two weeks in intensive care we were finally able to hold her. I still get upset just thinking about it. As you can see she’s doing okay these days :) @echonuman
